The Lower Elementary group has 24 children ranging from 6 to 9 years old. Therefore, it encompasses the first three elementary grades with 8 students of each year.
This group has full Montessori methodology.
Every day, from the early morning arrival until noon, children do their work cycle. During these three hours they can stop to have a snack if they need it. They can eat fruit, toast and similar food. Once the work cycle has finished, they clean the space and go outdoors for around an hour. At 1:00 pm they lunch accompanied by their Guide and Assistant.
After lunch they have a short outdoors time and in the afternoon they altrenate work cycle days with group activity days: music, dance, sports, theater, plastic arts, etc. These activities last until school time finishes and they go home.
The lower elementary classroom is a room around 75 m2 on the first floor of the school and is divided into different spaces: an area for the materials of each of the four elementary learning areas (practical life, language, math and cultural), reading corner, dining area, washbasin and a hall with individual lockers. There’s also a piano in the hallway. In addition, they have access to a 100m2 outdoors terrace located on the same floor and enabled as an educational space to do outdoor activities. Through a staircase in the terrace children can go to the outside garden.
Two adults attend the Primary 6-9 group: a Montessori Guide and an Assistant.
